Young people largest group of patients with homeopathic doctors
Parents trust homeopathy: a third of all patients are under 20 years old. No age group is treated homeopathically as often as children and adolescents, said the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) in Düsseldorf in April. With around 30 percent, the younger generation under 20 years of age provided the largest group of patients with homeopathic health insurance doctors in North Rhine-Westphalia. "Apparently mothers and fathers in particular trust in homeopathy and hope for gentle therapy for their family," explains Christian Elspas from the TK in NRW, a current assessment of the TK homeopathy contract.
The agreement between TK and the German Central Association of Homeopathic Doctors (DZVhÄ) has been running since July 2007. In total, around 220 doctors with the homeopathy diploma from the DZVhÄ take part in the care. The therapy includes a detailed initial medical history, homeopathic analysis and drug selection, follow-up medical history and specific homeopathic advice. The costs for homeopathic medicines prescribed by the doctor are also reimbursable at the TK, since 2012 this has been a voluntary statutory benefit of the health insurance company. There is a maximum of 100 euros available per patient per year.
